SATORI 2 - Black Labs

Welcome to the second SATORI mission - Black Labs.  In this mission, you are trying to activate the two Information Consoles to discover the forbidden truths of the black site.  At the same time, there is a highly-contested "Reset Button" that will switch one of your opponent's consoles OFF, reducing their chance to score.  It's not a friendly scenario, but this is not a friendly rock.  Welcome to...

SCENARIO 2 - BLACK LABS

Sir, I must admit that this system is unlike anything I've ever seen. No sir, these are Yu Jing machines alright, but the software is...well no, sir, there seems to be no backdoor. Everything is sealed. Hardline only. Sir, I think you might need to find a more hands-on specialist for this...

Allow me to understand you perfectly, sir. You wish for me to take in a small team of infowar specialists and babysit them while we come under heavy defensive fire from a group of nationalist fanatics? Oh no, sir, I don't care about the enemy fire. That's not an issue. It's the babysitting my men will be upset with...

Mission Background
The small groups of soldiers fight past resistance and, on occasion, each other to make their way beneath the moon's surface.  Once inside, it very quickly becomes clear that this place - Satori - has a wealth of information and research data that can be used by friendly scientists, if only it could somehow be extracted. Your mission specialists can help with this process, but they can't be everywhere at once...

Objectives
• For each Information Console activated by a friendly model (and not reset) at the end of the game: 1 objective point.
• Classified Objective: each player will have one Classified Objective (1 objective point).

Forces
Side A: 100 points. Link Team rules do not apply.
Side B: 100 points. Link Team rules do not apply.

Deployment
Forces deploy as normal.  No model can deploy within (completely or partially) one of the three objective rooms.

Turn Limit
The game lasts four full rounds. No special Retreat rules apply.

Special Rules
Game Table Size: 48 inches by 48 inches.

Activating Information Console: In order to activate an Information Console, a model must make a WIP roll (Short Skill) in base-to-base contact with it.  To be allowed to make this WIP roll, a model must be within the Zone of Control of a friendly Specialist. Specialists do not count as being in their own Zone of Control for these purposes i.e. a Hacker working alone could not activate an Information Console; he would need to be within 8” of another friendly Specialist to make the roll.

Only one player may have an Information Console active at any given time. The player's opponent cannot attempt to activate an Information Console to “ override” it, but must first activate the Reset Console to deactivate an active Information Console if they want to capture it for themselves.

Activating the Reset Console: Activating the Reset Console allows you to deactivate a single activated Information Console of your choice. In order to activate the Reset Console, a model must make a WIP roll (Short Skill) in base-to-base contact with it. The same rules for activating an Information Console apply, in terms of specialists and Zone of Control.

Specialists: Paramedics, Doctors, Hackers, Engineers, Forward Observers, Chain of Command, and Lieutenant models are Specialists. Models with Repeaters, Deployable Repeaters, and helperbots cannot take objectives (unless said model is also a Hacker, Engineer, FO, CoC, or Lieutenant model).  [Note: this was an N2 scenario.  Feel free to remove Lieutenants from the list.]

Terrain Deployment: Place a 12x12 objective room in the very centre of the board, so that a Large Door is facing each player's deployment zone and so that the middle of the room straddles the centre line between players. It should have doors facing both other table edges as well.  Place a Reset Console in the very centre of this room.

Then place an objective room (8x8 or larger) on both sides side of this large room, making sure that all rooms are accessible to each other by connecting doorways. Players should immediately take turns placing Information Consoles in these rooms, until there are 2 Consoles total per room.  Before placing any more terrain, fill 1/3 of the table with rooms and hallways. Then, when properly placing terrain on the table, place this terrain immediately after the three objective rooms (before other terrain) and fill the rest of the board with other pieces as players see fit.

Each player also has two Doors that they may place during their deployment (i.e. the player deploying first must deploy their two Doors during their deployment, followed by the person going second during their deployment). Doors are subject to the Open-Close rules in the Infinity rules, and can be closed again once they are opened (and vice-versa). Doors must block existing doorways in rooms or hallways.
