SATORI 1 - Landfall

Last week, we brought you the introductory document for SATORI, the slow-grow campaign we ran at our LGS last year.  This week's Mission Monday is the first SATORI scenario - Landfall.  As usual, I'll post the PDF in case you want to download and use it later!

SCENARIO 1 - LANDFALL

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, that rock down there is Satori. Despite its name, it is the home of black laboratories and alien test subjects, of corrupt bureaucrats and madman doctors. It pretends to be the bloody left hand of the Human Sphere's war effort, working for mankind in the shadows and doing what he would dare not do otherwise, but we all know that this is a lie. Satori is a war criminal's paradise, plain and simple. And it is our job to go in there and make sure that we make a very big mess, because that sort of thing is intolerable, no matter what the politicians say - or what they don't say. Now who's with me?

Mission Background
All ships are inbound to Satori when a massive Combined Army assault occurs in human space. Shasvastii stealth-ships drop their holoprojections to unleash a bombardment on the fortified moon, causing defenders to deploy anti-attack ordinance and lock down all secure cells. Never has there been a worse time to initiate a covert operation on the Invisible Prisons.

Operatives' ships are forced to take evasive action and most either fall or are forced down by the defensive ordinance. The ships do not contain large armies - perhaps a handful of soldiers at best, accompanying the Special Operative on his mission. As all forces move in on Satori's fortresses, mercifully ignorant of each other, it is clear that reinforcements are so very far away.

Objectives
• For each Defencebot destroyed: 1 objective point.
• For Occupying the Control Room at the end of the game: 4 objective points.
• Classified Objective - each player will have one Classified Objective (roll 2, pick 1): 1 objective point.

Forces
Side A: 100 points. Link Team rules do not apply.
Side B: 100 points. Link Team rules do not apply.

Deployment
Both sides deploy on opposite sides of the table in an area 12" deep. Deploying within 4" of the Control Room is not permitted, nor can any model/marker/equipment be deployed within the Control Room at the start of the game.

Turn Limit
The game lasts three full rounds. No special Retreat rules apply.

Special Rules
Game Table Size: 48 inches by 48 inches.

Opening the Control Room: In order to unlock the Control Room doors, two Security Consoles must be activated before the end of the second round. Security Consoles are activated in base-to-base contact with a successful WIP roll (Short Skill). Only Specialists can perform this task.

Double-Blind: the Control Room doors will only open if both players have activated a Security Console before the end of the second round. The doors slide open immediately at the end of the second Console activation.

Occupying the Control Room: a player must have more points worth of models (not Markers, not equipment like helperbots) fully inside the Control Room at the end of the game.

Specialists: Hackers, Engineers, Forward Observers, Chain of Command, and Lieutenant models are Specialists. Models with Repeaters, Deployable Repeaters, and helperbots cannot take objectives (unless said model is also a Hacker, Engineer, FO, CoC, or Lieutenant model).  [Note: this was an N2 scenario.  Feel free to remove Lieutenants from the list, and add Doctors and Paramedics.]

Placing Defencebots: Place one Defencebot at each outside corner of the Control Room, so that they can see down two walls each. Defencebots always react to models (not Markers) that pass within LoF of them using a full burst. The reactive player rolls the relevant dice. Defencebots have the following statline:

BS 11 ARM 2 BTS -3 STR 1
Combi-Rifle

Terrain Deployment: Place an 8x8 objective room in the very centre of the board, so that a Large Door is facing each player's deployment zone. All doors begin closed and locked as above. Before placing any more terrain, fill 1/3 of the table with mountainous terrain i.e. cliffs, ledges, outcroppings, etc. Then, when properly placing terrain on the table, place this terrain immediately after the objective room (before other terrain) and fill the rest of the board with other pieces as players see fit.

Each player places one 4x4 Mountainous Terrain (Very Difficult) template completely within the opponent's side of the table, but not touching or within the opponent's deployment zone. This placement occurs after Initiative is rolled but before models are placed. [Note: this was an N2 scenario, so feel free to place any kind of treacherous but traversable terrain here in its place.]

Each player then places one 4x4 Zero-G template completely within the opponent's side of the table, but not touching or within the opponent's deployment zone.  This placement occurs after Initiative is rolled but before models are placed. [Note: this was an N2 scenario, so feel free to place any kind of treacherous but traversable terrain here in its place.]
