Mission 205 - Paradiso: Briefing:
"That's a mistake," Thabit said flatly.
"Noted. You're still not going," Tevesh countered. The warlord looked over the briefing room.
"The men may not be ready, they-"
"Not ready?" Tevesh stood akimbo, pointing to each soldier in turn. "Dhuka guarded against failure despite Qusay getting cooked. Iman ensured that our encounter with Overlord's forces was not an entire debacle. Yazan has had a hot one in him. Ahmed reeks inspiration from all the alcohol he drinks. Alireza may not shave but he's seen some shit. I'm surprised that you don't remember, considering you were there. Even the damned pornographic Kameel has seen some of the fighting. And now, I'm saying you're not going to be there."

A few glances were stolen towards the Kameel. A blushing Sophotect was being assaulted by a playful octopus. "Sophotects Submit, available now at Mayasphere..." scrolled across Dish-01's screen.
Normally, a few snickers would've risen from the rude images that gushed off of the refurbished Remote's screen but the situation was dire. Analysis of the mission showed an incredibly high casualty rate. Thabit was analyzed as being too high priority to worth risking for what was looking to be a suicide mission. The five veterans saw that there was no doctor in the personnel file - a staple of the Warlord.
Thabit was going to respond when he was cut off again by a gruff Muyib. "The Old Man choose him for his methods, he's the one who chooses who goes and who made give up their life for the cause." The room turned to a Muyib who did not look up from her Spitfire weapon case while chasiting the Husam. Dhuka raised an eyebrow. Thabit frowned, stood at attention to be dismissed which Tevesh readily obliged him. The Husam left the briefing.
Tevesh turned to the room, motioning towards a salt and pepper Ghulam. "This is Habib, he's going to take point on this mission. I've known him since the good old days."

The Ghulam shrugged. "Thought I was going to die then, now looks like it could be the same. I read over your files, it looks like you know what you're doing. My job will be to stay out of the way and kill as many of these Ariadnan dogs as possible. This is important, someone punch Ahmed."
Habib leaned forward as the Snake Charmer kicked out the sleeping Hunzakut's chair from out under him. Ahmed rose with a knife, the Snake Charmer did not flinch. With a gruff laugh, the Hunzakut slid the knife into his sheathe, retrieved his chair and sat down. Dhakwan, the Al Hawwa, saw that the threat of retaliation was mostly over and turned to the mid screen but kept the Hunzakut in his periphery.
Ignoring the squabbling of his two suborinates, Habib placed his finger on the hologram to point out their units positioning. The team leaned in.
"Iman and Yazan, you will for once not be a the front lines. You'll be our backup. Ahmed, you're talented which is why I'm sending you forward. Plant a Mine at this point, to cover the entrance of the projected stop of the Gravtrain. You'll have Dhakwan, who you just met, and Alireza as your back up." The three Skirmishers nodded. Iman looked annoyed at playing second string, but Yazan readily agreed to the suggestion.

"Hessa, you will be joining Dhuka, as our guardian angels. Or avenging angels at that." The Muyib and Odalisque nodded. Tevesh had a smile at the minimal micromanaging that Habib laid out, the Ghulam knew to give guidelines instead of Orders when you work in an Infinity Operation. Rigidity got too many soldiers killed.
The Lasiq leaned over and pointed at a location. Habib thought for a moment and then nodded. "I'll take the suggestion of an expert. Team, meet Remi, he was brought in once we knew that our opposition was going to be Ariadnan. This commander is fond of all sorts of animals, Camouflaged Antipersonnel Devices and troublesome Irmandihos. Remi will be our watchful eye." The Lasiq did not acknowledge any of the nods of his comrades but was instead intently staring at the subway complex that this operation was going to take place in.
"Eat, pray, sleep. Allah Akbar," Tevesh and Habib said in unison. Tevesh had a grin from the completion of the briefing, Habib only nodded with the familiarity of the indication that the briefing was over. The troops stood and left, with Ahmed slightly stumbling, allowing the comrades to comisserate over past injustices. The warlord and Ghulam moved to Tevesh's office to have what could be a farewell drink.

"Its always the young ones that die," Habib sipped his whisky. Tevesh and he were reminising of the Commercial Conflicts when the warlord briskly switched topics to how the mission went. Habib slid a data file over to Tevesh, the warlord lazily eyed the report of the adversaries.

"I wish we had that Briscard on our side," Habib sighs. He points at the data file as if his hand was a pistol.

"Oh?"
"We set the initiative, but he undid it and then some."
"Well, you're here so I guess he's not for hire."
"That is the case, us old men cause the young to pay. Alireza failed to activate the Emergency Brakes first time round, but he managed to get it on his second try.
"Ahmed, bless those Hunzakut bastards, set two Mines while firing his Grenade Launcher wildly. Unfortunately, he had too much to drink and one of his Grenades landed on one of his Mines. The Mine miracously survived but was its Camouflaged systems were torn away.
"Then that damned Briscard got to work. He killed Ahmed. The Briscard ran across the subway, activating the Emergency Brakes and destroyed both of Ahmed's Mines. He moved very aggressively, eventually gaining line of sight to Alireza and retiring that promising Farzan. Two lives cut short and the damned Ariadnan spotted Dhakwan." Habib raised his glass in a toast to which Tevesh returned and they both drank.

Habib continued after Tevesh added a finger to both of their glasses.
"The train arrived and we had to reprogram its destination with a Briscard standing in the way. I thought that Dhuka would want her revenge, so I sent her forward. And to Odalisques!" Habib saluted his glass and took a sip, Tevesh returned.
"Their prowess!" Tevesh agreed.
"Those breasts!"
"Their legs!"
"The hormones!"
Habib and Tevesh laughed at that, drinking. Tevesh motioned for Habib to continue. With a sigh, Habib obliges.
"Dhuka avenges her pride when she retires that Briscard. She moved to overlook the hatch that the Ariadians would need to use. I send forth Yazan, he seemed to be a dependable young man. Sure, he breaks into the train's control centre but doesn't have the decency to be able to activate the Automatic Override. Twice!" Habib emphasizes with a peace sign while gulping whiskey.

"The poor boy didn't go out well. Antipodes. His screams can be added to this right here," Habib points to his skull. He places his glass forward for a refill before continuing. "The Neomerican failed to open the hatch, perhaps he got nervous with such a beautiful woman possibly evaluating his performance. He attempts again and succeeds, but pulls away from the train.
"I must admit, as much as I find Odalisques charming, it is Lasiqs that are the true gift from Allah and the Old Man. Remi without any prompting moves to overlook the train hatch, kills an Antipode and holds that trigger down. The Antipodes are not going to escape with a Viral Rifle being unloaded at their only exit.
"Dhuka runs up to the crates of the train and puts the Neomerican out.
"The one thing that many men forget is that us soldiers are pieces of Allah's Will and Dhuka was exemplar. A Chasseur runs to open their train door and leaves a Mine as a present for Dhuka. The Chasseur moves around the crate and tries to burn Dhuka to death. Dhuka kills the Merovingian, survives the flame and shrapnel. I'll say this about those Merovingians, they're stubborn.

"Another Chasseur moves up and tries the exact same thing. Luckily, the results are the same. One more dead Ariadnan and our lovely Odalisque has survives another brush with death in the form of flame and shrapnel.
"The Antipodes must've felt cagey and the Russian running them realized that the train was going to leave. She forced the Antipodes to run through Remi's Viral volley in an attempt in freedom. The Lasiq dropped both. The train left without either force comandeering the train. I made the call that we had to wipe the cavemen out and chase the train. If there are no survivors, there is no one else to harass us."
Tevesh nodded and Habib continued after polishing off his whiskey. Habib made a motion to stop Tevesh's refill.
"Dhuka pushed onto the Ariadnan side of the board. She must've startled the Tank Hunter who fired his Auto-Cannon at her. Bless those enhanced reflexes for the Russian lay dead after their exchange. I remembered the position of the Chasseurs, indicating that they may have placed down ordinance and asked her to see if she could spot a Mine. She didn't find anything but I asked her to hold off. I asked Remi to spot, who failed as well. Dhakwan failed to see anything either.

"Taking our time cost Dhuka her life," Habib frowns at the memory. He makes a slight salute to another downed comrade with his empty glass. Tevesh returns the gesture. "The Antipode Controller took this time to flank our lovely Odalisque and killed her. The Veteran Kazak pushed forward with a little bit too much deference from the rest of the troops and that's when I knew it was their Lieutenant. He unloaded his AP HMG at Remi who somehow survived the exchange. Dhakwan fails to hit the Veteran with his Boarding Shotgun.
"Remi held his ground and killed the Veteran. Praise Allah for Viral! Iman flanks the Antipode Controller and kills her as well. Dhakwan saw an opportunity and rushed across the tracks, breached a room and killed a Zouave who missed with his DEP.
"The Line Kazak, alone, ran back to his original position. There was a Mine overlooking one vector but Iman saw a path and I gave her the go. She ended that Kazak's life as well. Five good soldiers fed to the machine of war." The two sat in silence for a few minutes, deep in thought when Tevesh's comm blips.
"Oh? Another emergency, huh? Well, this old man should go," Habib places his hands on his knees to balance his rise. He strides towards the exit without showing any inebriation.
"Now, if you do not give that angelic Odalisque a proper plot, I will rip your balls out and feed them to you, boy," Habib's eyes are hard. Tevesh nodded and the Ghulam left.
