TURNING POINT-MISSION MONDAY

Occasionally, I have played games where shortly into the game, my opponent announces that it is unwinnable, and that they are forfeiting. This is discouraging, as I like to play my games out, and making my opponent so unsatisfied as so that they do not want to play against me any more is disheartening (see-Getting Stomped). Recently, I have started to form a technique of dealing with this in a way that is actually very exciting and interesting for both players. I took this idea from our Shaping up your strategy article- and put it into clearer definition here.

This is less of a specific mission, as it is a concept for gameplay with players with different skill levels

At the end of any GAME turn of the game, the "beginner" player may announce the "turning point"- At this point, players COMPLETELY SWITCH SIDES-

•All secret information is revealed (so that the new player knows what they are working with)
•Sometimes have a quick chat about the strengths of the positioning on the board

After this, The game continues "normally"- with each player endeavoring to complete their victory conditions

I really enjoy this- as it gives me difficult positions to have to sort out (that I technically put myself in)- and it also helps (sometimes) to prove to the other player that the situation wasn't as "impossible" as they may have made it out to be. This is great for teaching New players as well, as it gives them a "win" and shows them both sides of the factions
