Time for that monthly round-up. We've got another set of high quality articles for you to peruse if you're the more casual Crits Kill People person than the hardcore reader. Here is the best of May.
5. Tevesh's d/b's Don't Be Afraid to Finish a Miniature - Simple Sunday
Wow, what a shocker! d/b's thread came out of nowhere and clawed a top Five spot. I made sure to check the numbers prior to this article, as I usually have the Top Five plotted out a few days in advance. d/b was nice enough to give me permission to use his pep talk from the Infinity Forums. I admit, I'm not a Hobby guy, I play this game for the game and camaraderie. What's amazing is that this came out on the last day of May and resonated so strongly with people that it snagged a Top Five. d/b's article even got some play on Reddit. If you need some painting motivation, take d/b's speech to heart!
4. Tevesh's Three Intentions in Infinity - Tactica Tuesday
Infinity is a game of intentions, so basing it after my 3 Maxims post, I wanted to give three quick tips to take your game play to the next level. This is the sort of thing that blows other players away who are used to more static game play. Infinity is very dynamic, with your models behaving intelligently, so there isn't an often a time when I nickname a model an idiot - unlike in the Batman Miniature Game where that's my default name for all my Henchmen. If you're curious about the type of dynamic game play that is available with Infinity, here's a good way to get a glimpse.
3. Tevesh's Common Batman Miniature Game Questions - Wishlist Wednesday
This is a collection of the most common questions over at the Batman Miniature Game Forum. If you're starting out, this should answer most of your questions. We also have the Living FAQ here. Endalyon is currently working on updating the Printer Friendly version of the rules, but there is the prior version on our Starting Batman page. It should also include most of the resources you'd need to get started.
2. Penemue's Why Aleph is NOT a good beginner's faction!
Penemue covers exactly why Aleph is a poor faction for a new player to begin with. When he took the discussion to the Infinity Forums, an interesting theme began developing. Aleph is not good for the player or his opponent. A lot of players chimed in on how Aleph felt incredibly unfair when they started out. I guess the abilities that allow Aleph models to blunder around the board with less consequences isn't that fun for their opponents either. Naturally, there is some confusion with the topic with some posters stating that Penemue is having trouble with Aleph and raging. I assure you that isn't the case. If you're interested in seeing how the discussion shakes out, the post is here.
1. Endalyon's Exclusive Preview - Lady Shiva
Endalyon managed to snag us our very first preview with Knight Models. The post was the first info about Lady Shiva and her kickass abilities. He included a treasure hunt to find Shiva's Agents, which I think are damned fine Squires to be included in her retinue. Shiva is quite the ass kicker and Endalyon goes over her capabilities in our first exclusive. Check it out if you hadn't wanted to join the League of Shadows to conquer Gotham.
Honourable Mentions: The Store!
In North America, want to play Batman and tired of the massive wait times from the busy men over at Knight Models? We got you a hook-up! We don't plan on undercutting any brick and mortars but make up with that with goodies. We also have a very generous exchange policy so you don't have to wait weeks for a replacement if there happens to be a miscast.

Mentalities Against the Swarm - Theory Thursday
You don't understand, I got called out by a buddy to write this and then at the last moment it got bumped out of the Top Five. So, here it is. If you're playing an Elite force in Batman and are having trouble against a Swarm List, perhaps this article will be useful to you. Curse you d/b!

The swarm mentality article was a fave for me, personally.
ReplyDeleteGasp. Are you an ALEPH player, by any chance...?
