Model Review - Blackgates 2!

Time to look at the newest arrival on my painting table: the insides of the Blackgate Prisoners 2 box.  Be warned: I took a lot more pictures this time!
As you might expect, there's a lot of pewter in this box.  KM has also included the new textured bases (I'm not a fan because of my particular basing habits, but I know some people are), one for each of the Blackgates.  Each major body is one piece, and the rest of the little bits come in a sealed bag.  Vastly preferable to sprues, I think.
The little bits in the bag are unmarked, but I didn't have a single second of trouble figuring out what goes where.  The heads are obvious if you follow the graphic, and the arms/other bits are very clear and obvious.  Very nice.
I have to admit that I went a bit overboard with assembly and priming, so the next pictures I have for you are all of the assembled Blackgates with primer already on.  Just to be thorough, here's a front and back.
I had very few issues with assembly with this kit - another sign that KM is improving with its sculpt and quality control.  My one major beef was with Little Spark, whose arm-holding-the-battery in no way fits the socket without a silly amount of filing and putty.  His lower arm is actually bigger than his upper, so it looks like he's got a hideously-malformed bicep there.  I managed to correct most of it with my files and putty, though, so it's not impossible.
Other than some small gaps and Little Spark's arm, this kit was a joy and a pleasure to assemble.  If this is any indication of the direction KM is headed with its sculpting quality, then I'm definitely looking forward to KM's next "out of faction" releases!

  1. Good to hear things are improving. If I had one gripe about the models I've built to date, it's that their fit is often questionable at best. I don't mind a little hobby work, but less is always better.
