Mission 302 - Paradiso: Debriefing

"Wipe that grin off of your face," Tevesh scowled at the Recreation.

"I would say it was more of a pleasant smile," Saladin slightly rebuked. "Thabit thought to call upon my services when you gave him his team to recover any Persons of Interest from that unfortunate event.  Based off of your interestingtroop selection, I worked with what we had on base. Do you know your own reputation? Do you understand the soldiers you attract?"

"Those with a death wish. It is known that signing up or being assigned to the mighty warlord Tevesh guarantees glorious service to Islam. It is rude to speak ill of the dead, after all. Did they serve well? Perhaps, perhaps not. With their death they get the military funeral, the support of the Government and they perpetuate the honour of the Islamic people.

"Based off of those characteristics, your men and women are inclined to certain dispositions. Those dispositions push them towards certain paths and away from others. Knowing this, knowing that the people who serve your command may not welcome death but are certainly not surprised when she arrives leads to their optimization in a particular way.

"I knew who I needed to get the job done. Everything went to plan. The soldiers that needed to die died, the soldiers that needed to live lived and we got the main VIP while those misguided Nomads only got left overs after we had our fill. Thabit gave me carte blanche unlike Khan so this mission was a success instead of a failure."

Tevesh stared down Saladin who returned the glare with a pleasant demeanour.

"Here are the men Thabit requisitioned on my behalf," Saladin held out a data file that Tevesh snatched.

"We were faster than the Nomads to taking to the crash site, approximately at 1832, but their caution was perhaps their undoing. They had better positioning, but Nashida - quite a curious case there - discovered the Diplomat and an assistant quite quickly. She woke the Diplomat up and convinced the VIP to follow. All the while, Pupniks were dogging her. Her Nasmat was destroyed attempting to check on another Crash Coffin.

"After getting the Diplomat to safety, Thabit moved towards the swarming Uberfall unit and destroyed the curious Chimera. I always found that Nomads have the most curious way of weaponizing anything thrown their way. Take their TAGs, for example, the Gecko is refurbished construction units. Truly ingenious but I digress. Aban pushed forward with his Nasmat, painted with French colours but also had an archaic cartoon design. Aban discovered a live assistant, while his Batman-01 discovered a dead one. Before we could ready the discovered assistants, the Nomad assault began.

"The Daktari are an interesting addition to the culture jam of Nomads. I was not surprised by her aversion to all sorts of combat, but her ability to evade Thabit's eyesight was extraordinary to witness. She was very cautious, ensure to use chatter of Rifles to distract a Hassassin trained soldier. She found a dead and an alive assistant. If only all of Bakunin was as timid as her.

"The interesting thing about Bakunin is that their Link Teams are not the best trained in the sphere, nor are they as barbaric as Ariadnan drunks in dresses; however, there is something to be said about decently trained units in cohesion. Aban dropped the one carrying the Spitfire, but the group reformed and took our flank. Aban and Thabit were both injured. I don't know the odds are that a man carrying a Spitfire cannot gun down another out in the open are, but followed up by Avicenna failing to revive that gentleman has me coming to one conclusion: he did not wish to live.

"Knowing that the Bakunin commander was busy with his forward position, I had the Dropship land, had Nashida and the Diplomat board and order it to take off. I didn't want Nomads to have too easy of a time, so I ordered the normally reliable Muyib forward. She killed a Moderaor before taking a full spray from a Sin-Eater's Spitfire. Barids, they're a new unit that the Old Man cooked up, counter-intelligence counter-hacking but not the best counter to brute force. You haven't lead them in battle personally, so I am providing this information to you with the best of intentions.

"Muhyi moved to oversee the now vulnerable area that Thabit and Aban were no longer covering. A Moderator Link Team ran roughshod on this newly minted unit. Considering the nature of Nomads, I understand that they can only wish to emulate, never create. The Nomad took my play, perhaps a bit too late, and escorted two of their VIPs into newly arrived Dropship with Avicenna and the Daktari towing very confused assistants."

"We had taken significant casualties. I took stock of who would stay on to thwart the Nomads but Habib left the battlefield. I guess he was disappointed in how I was using the men, but their lives were readily spent as dictated with the soldiers Thabit got me."

Saladin ignored Tevesh's glaring as the Recreation continued his report.

"I didn't want the Nomads to take away so many assistants, while our lovely Person of Interest has the whole picture, enough fragments from the assistants may result in the same. Bey certainly knows how to select the most beautiful Odaisques, it is a shame whenever they are assigned to your regiment. Jada's hips were truly magnificent, but I digress. She ran to check the last Crash Coffin, which only had a dead assistant before killing a Moderator with her Spitfire.

"I asked her to attempt to slay the Sin-Eater but I could say that Nomad inventiveness overcame Haqqislamic genetics. That Sin-Eater proceeded to gather the remaining assistants and return to the Nomad deployment area where their second Dropship made off with another pair of assistants. Hessa and Jada both died to the Sin-Eater, Aban and Thabit died in transit but the good news is that Muhyi was not claimed today. Interestingly enough, Muyhi's name means-"

"You let my Specialist die." Tevesh's interruption was flat.

Saladin shrugged. "If he means so much to you, I am certain you may ask the Old Man to Resurrect him. It is a curious method that the Nation of new Islam selects. You do understand that the majority of the Sphere enjoys a much more assured resurrection? If the loss of your men is so upsetting, I think you could make a change. With your current standing, I am sure you could convince a few key Sultans to adopt Cube and join the Human Sphere in modernity. I can have a few Aleph units strum things up for you, if you like."

Tevesh glared at the Recreation. "Get. The. Fuck. Out."

Still smiling, the Aleph Recreation slightly bowed and exited. His pleasant smile took on a rakish quality as his Hassassin and Azra'il escorts surrounded him. Saladin whistled, walking away, ignoring his overseers.
