Tactica Tuesday - Merovingia (MRRF/FRRM)

Last week, I tackled a quick and dirty review of the Imperial Service sectorial.  Since many new players seem to be looking for info on the play-styles and features of Infinity factions, I figure it might be useful to have some more out there.  So, without further ado, I bring to you the MRRF - the Merovingian Rapid Response Force.

Merovingia is all about moving around quickly and getting their troops where they need to be.  With inferior technology and infowar systems, these stalwart combatants have to be masters of the lightning attack or else they won't survive an engagement with superior troops.  And that's exactly how the sectorial plays - get in, get out, leave none alive (or you'll be screwed).  Here are some of their other strengths, as I see them:

1 - Massive Presence Mid-Table
Merovingia is capable of fielding a startling number of models on the middle line, whether it be because of Infiltration or Mechanized Deployment.  With the new rules for Infiltration scattering, you can even risk taking a bunch of Inferior Infiltration Métros - and if they deviate, they just end up back in your deployment zone like good order-monkeys.

2 - Strong Camo Game
This goes hand-in-hand with MRRF's massive mid-table presence.  Merovingia, as a sectorial, is able to play a strong Camo game with a bunch of Chasseurs and Mines.  That's a total of eight Camo tokens on the middle line, forming a strong screen that will help protect the bulk of your army (including your link teams).

3 - Lots of Cheap Link Options
With the advent of N3, the MRRF gained a new link option - the Moblot.  Formerly looked-down-upon, the Moblot is cheap enough to rival the Loup-Garou and Briscards for prime link real-estate (less than 30 points a model on average), but solid enough (high stats, specialist options, strong conventional weaponry) to be a serious competitor too.  Métros are also an option, depending on the rest of your composition.

4 - Great AD Presence
I know, I know...MRRF troops don't have high levels of AD.  What they do have, though, is a lot of AD1 for cheap, paired with an AD2 nightmare tag-team of werewolf-and-professional.  What the sectorial lacks in conventional AD threats, it makes up in quantity and the ever-present danger of an air-dropping beast with Stealth and his BS14 LGL-toting handler.

5 - Unhackable
You always hear this with regards to Ariadna troops, but I think it bears repeating: MRRF troops are 99% unhackable (exceptions: Anaconda, Traktor Mul, any hackers you take).  This wasn't a massive issue in N2, where hackers were uncommon-ish, but now that space magic is a lot more useful...well...it helps to have models that basically ignore that entire aspect of the rules.

How's that for an evaluation of the MRRF?  Did I miss anything?  Let me know!
