3. The "first turn advantage" has really changed
N3 has introduced some heavy penalties to the first player for N3, from command token use, buffed LoL, and to standard scenarios like "Nimbus Zone" means that, at least without a TAG or drop-troop, first turns are going to be a lot less of the murder-blowouts from before, and more a "set-up" turn, with troops moving up to optimal positioning, laying suppressive fire (in a coordinated order), and maybe scoring a few VP. I am curious to see, over time, if we slowly slip back to the first turn alpha strike- but for now, it seems like the first turn has been pretty well muzzled (about 60% of the time....)
4. Multiple Battle groups are IN
With command token usage, Spec shots, Hacker supportware, and most model point costs going down ~10%, it has become perfectly normal to have at least a second battle group with a few orders. Now, if you are building a list and find yourself with 11 models, that could be perfectly OK. Give it a whirl, see what you think!
What else has everyone noticed in early games of N3?
