Building a gang

Here are a few basic tips for building a basic solid BMG list.

1. FOLLOW THE RULES (with exceptions)
Have someone in charge- a leader or a sidekick (unless you are the watchmen).
Don't take more than 1 free agent per 150 rep (unless you are charismatic).
Don't take multiples of a single unit (unless they are henchmen*). Don't take more than 1 on an elite unit (unless you have an elite boss)
Don't take equipment on anything but a henchman.
Don't take more than one equipment per henchman.
Dont go over your rep (no exceptions- don't do this)

2. SPEND YOUR RESOURCES
When building a list you have two limitations to keep in mind, Reputation points, and $ funding. You cannot exceed either of these limits, but unless you have a really good reason, you should try to use up these maximums as much as possible. As a general rule, try to not be more than 7 points under, or leave more than $50 unused (most gangs have a piece of equipment that is fairly cheap)

3. COVER YOUR BASES
To build a solid list for BMG, there are some basic things that you would want to accomplish; Claim
Objectives, deal damage Damage, or control the game. A list doesn't necessarily need to do all of these things, but any list should shoot for achieving at least two, or one of them extremely well.

Claim objectives- Fast models, that can reach valuable objectives quickly, and then hold them with strong defensive capabilities are very valuable for objectives. Smaller, cheaper models can claim objectives, but they can easily be dislodged. Dancers are really ideal here. Models with Primary Target, or Puzzle Master are also great in this position for maximizing your gains.

Deal damage- What you are looking for here, is BUTTON MEN. Models that only deal 1 stun damage can certainly be effective on the game, but when real fighting begins, they guns, multistun
control- abilities, mobility

DIMINISH YOUR FOES (or MULTIPLY YOUR POWER)- If you can't get the objectives quickly,
and you can't win the brawls- there is one more thing you can do- Mess with your opponent's plan. BMG is rich with abilities that require certain conditions, and abilities that lock down your opponent's ability to act. Confusion, Smoke, Flash, Persuasive, Technique, Poison, Discourage, Distract, and lethal blow can cripple the effectiveness of a unit. Not only will this slow your opponent's plan- but locking down your opponent's troops multiplies the power of yours.

Once you have your core covered, you need to protect your investments, and this is where MUSCLE, and REDUNDANCY comes into play. Fill the rest of your points with troops to take and give hits, or replace key units when they are lost.

Now it is time for REVIEW FUN GAME- Build a 300 point list!
