NEW RAS AL GHUL RULES!

Recently the rules for the new ARKHAM RAS model have been leaked- so LETS HAVE A LOOK! Remember this is a DIFFERENT profile- so either rules may be used in a normal game- but of course you cannot take both of them!

Mastermind, immortal, elite boss and grand strategist are the same, so nothing really new here. They are excellent abilities that build the core of the character, but they don't change purpose on this Ras, so we wont talk too much about them. If he didn't have them- he would not be RAS!

Undercover on a leader is interesting, as it really gets him to the fight quicker- it also allows for deploying later, after objectives- Combined with Scarecrow, and reinforcement- a player could even manage to not deploy a single model (in true ninja fashion!)

Veteran is an solid ability, normally dice assignment is fairly easy for ras, but this gives a bit more mobile flexibility- as once he is in the thick of fighting he can assign;

initially, and then move dice to allow him to run- or more special to recover as the turn evolves. This is very useful

What changes dramatically here is Ras' killing potential! Weapon master and precise blow adds up to a potential +2 on impacts! this means he will hit most targets on 2s (at WORST- 3s)! Precise blow gives brutal essentially as well- allowing for more sustainable knockdown. Enervating stacks the loss of dice dramatically- making Taking it on the chin impossible- minimum 2 dice lost from damage from ras (1 from the 2 blood attack, 1 from enervating) it is a shame Poison Master isn't on ras- would have been a good ability here!

as for things he has lost? Ras' attack has been reduced by 1, this doesnt hurt the dice assignment as much as it allows his attacks to much more sustainably be blocked. Sustained defence is gone too- losing out on WIP efficiency is a bit of a shame. Order and persuasive are interesting manipulation abilities that ARKHAM Ras wont miss- he will be killing too much. Last but not least- Deadly stroke is gone- it makes sense (with precise blow- no way)- but it means a whole dimension of terror is gone.

With all these changes ras becomes less of a manipulating pillar of the league and more of a bloody butcher. Against even batman (with no DEF), 4 attack deals 6 blood, losing batman 4dice, plus potentially more from poison! The lack of guns and mobility (still no acrobat) means he must be applied carefully- or your opponent will outmaneuver him. He will definitely need a "loyalty tattoo" chump to take guns for him.

  1. undercover doesn't allow you to deploy after objectives. I think you are mistaking with Hidden.

    1. From the 1.3 rulebook

      "This Character may be deployed up to 20cm away from the deployment area, but still more than 10cm from an objective"

      the caveat with the objectives makes me think that it is still after objectives- I will try to clarify with misty ASAP however!
