I think Ive figured out my problem with SUPERS in BMG
In BMG, PEOPLE are fighting PEOPLE.
In SUPERS it tends, much more, to be PEOPLE fighting PLOT

Let me clarify. In Batman Miniature Game, it is a tactical miniature game where, essentially, a number of characters are put into a thunder dome ring, and duke it out for 90 or so minutes. Characters are controlled by PLAYERS who are not affected or limited by the ethics, intelligence, or morality of the characters they represent (ala playing a D&D character with INT of 5)- these players are doing everything they can to squeeze the highest efficiency out of these troops- even if it means Harley attacking Joker, or Titan Bane running from a fight.

| There is a reason why there is a lot of fighting "pits" in the game |
In the comics, SUPERHEROES are typically NOT doing this- There is a much more complex plot at hand. Superman has to save Metropolis and protect from someone who has that Mcguffin that could defeat him, not save his own skin so he can sit on an ammo crate. Iron man has to deal with substance addiction and being a pimp erryday. Flash gets confused, loses confidence, and is a young, naive Superhero. The Avengers need to sort out their issues and work together. But you put any of those guys in a locked room with 10 thugs and give them the mind of Doomsday (or your ultra violent villain of choice)- and he will MURDER them. Once these characters get their personal issues sorted out- they normally just sail through any real physical altercations.
BATMAN on the other hand, is actually (amazingly) the opposite. Plunking him down on the table actually DEPOWERS him. Taking away his research, planning, preparation, and element of surprise DRAMATICALLY drops his power level. Best example- the "agamemnon contingency"- Batman HAS a plan to take down EVERY member of the JLA already locked and loaded, or "the dark knight returns" where batman uses an elaborate plan to "defeat" superman- but in BMG, you take all that away and you plunk him down to box with superman?? I know where my money is going (sadly).
BANE, the tactician, is the same- in BMG you are taking much of his power away (don't believe me? go read knightfall).
Clayface has none of his powers of disguise, mobility, or impersonation.
Lobo, Grundy, Deathstroke and Croc HAVE been depowered a bit, but in cannon, their powers have seemed to be a bit on a sliding scale (Squirrel girl effect)- I know that some people don't like them, and some do, I don't particularly mind, but I PREFER if they remain the minority. They have been depowered REALLY well though, and I feel like they are well represented for their capacities.
As of this point, there hasn't been too many complaints about characters LACKING things, but if game balance demanded, for instance, that superman had NO ability to fly- how much do you think we would hear about it?
KM is producing a superpowered game- and it WILL be awesome, but until then, I would much rather BMG stay at its current power level- gritty, dark, and everyone killable!

Same here, The Batman game must continue to fight on the street level against thugs. That's what I like about the concept of this game. When I want to play with Supers, I change town and go to Pulp City.
