Infinity and Video Games

Craving for some of the Infinity pew-pew but too afraid of the harsh winter environment to leave your house? Here are a few video games that have the Infinity mechanics or flavour down pat.
Frozen Synapse is an action-strategy game that is turn based. The sort of decisions you need to make would be typical of Infinity: which weapon to bring against what opposition.

Another game I can recommend, for it is free with micro-transactions to support itself is Blacklight Retribution. One of my favourite YouTube commentators STAR_, is fairly good at the game and he'll be able to demonstrate some of the core mechanics than any recording I could ever do.
Of course, there is the recently announced Overwatch by Blizzard, which looks like it decided to go with clean sci-fi that is the cyberprep of Infinity instead of cyberpunk. The technology level looks higher than Infinity, but the fact that each class is a distinct character is a part of Infinity as well. You can take any of the base profiles, but as soon as you make a character, their slight addition of a few quirks brings forth a completely different feel.
Any of these were hidden gems to you guys? Anything you're looking forward toward? Hell, if you can point out some other trailers for Infinity-looking games, they'd be awesome to check out. In fact, here's a trailer for a new Ghost in the Shell FPS.

  1. How did XCOM: Enemy Unknown not make the list?

    1. Didn't appear "Infinity" enough for my list. They don't quite use the same aesthetic of cyberpunk/cyberprep. Though yes, mechanics are pretty damned similar.

    2. I will give you that. That GITS game fits the bill pretty nicely though.

    3. Considering GITS is a giant influence on the entire genre plus Infinity borrows heavily from it... Yeah. The GITS game looks cool though it's looking to be a Korean exclusive.
