To help me with this block, I like to look at disadvantages (called Hindrances in Savage Worlds) and pick out one I'd find fun to roleplay. When Endalyon told me that possible Morat characters would start with "Racial Hatred - All", I felt the tug of a new idea pulling at my brain.

Probably the mini I'll use for our tactical combats... |
That's when I decided to play with contrast. Character creation up to that point had been "I'm going with high strength and carrying a big gun/axe because Morats are freakin' cool", but that wasn't going to be enough to keep my interest. Something would need to provide a counterweight to my Morat's race-driven enmity; the stranger, the better. What better way to provide contrast than to give the character an interest in the things he's been brought up to despise?
"Pah, what a useless creature. Your species' child-rearing is insipid and pathetic....from an anthropological standpoint, though, it is incredibly fascinating that your race has survived this long. I wish to see more."
"Foolish species! You rely on puny technological advances in farming to sustain your population, and live in a society where no man collects food with his own hands. What do you call this filth again? Hamburger? Pah. But get me another."
I'll keep you posted as things progress!
Which regiment do you think your Morat will be from Pen?
ReplyDeleteI don't think any regiment! He's probably one of those filthy non-combatant Morats who gets looked down upon by all the others (not that pathetic mewling humans would understand the intricacies of Morat culture!).
